On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, FFA members and guests assembled in the Sloan-Hendrix cafeteria for the annual awards banquet.  The meeting was opened and brought to
order by President Ryan Difani.  Following a prayer, members and guests enjoyed a meal of hamburger steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, and cheese cake.
Entertainment during the meal included a slide show of the year’s activities prepared by Amanda Holland and Kara Morris.

Recognition for district achievement included Ryan Difani, Extemporaneous Speaking, 1st place.  Others recognized for district achievements were Amanda Holland, Prepared
Speaking, 2nd place; Zach Brown, Creed Speaking, 2nd place; and the Parliamentary Procedure Team, 2nd place.  Team members include - Ryan Difani, Autumn Blasingame,
Amanda Holland, J.J. Walker, Seth Wells, and Hannah Rowsey.

The Forestry Team qualified for state competition.  Members included:  Ryan Difani, Logan Waddell, Seth Wells, and Stetson Wells.  Those recognized for swine production
were Matthew Baldridge and Garrett Jessen.  Those involved in poultry production included Seth Wells, Stetson Wells, Eason Dearen, and Chad Orrick.  Beef production
participants included Autumn Blasingame, Amanda Holland, Eason Dearen, Chase DeJournett, Stetson Wells, Kara Morris, and Kristin Bratcher.  Certificates were awarded
to Emily Bilbrey, Derick Stallings, and Demi Stephens for their participation with the Livestock Show Team.  Matthew Baldridge was recognized for goat production.  The Ag
Mechanics medal went to Tyler Brown.

Receiving Leadership Awards were Ryan Difani and Autumn Blasingame.  The Scholarship Award and the DeKalb Award were presented to Ryan Difani.  The Star Greenhand
was Zach Brown and the Star Chapter Farmer Award was presented to Seth Wells.

New officers for the 2009-2010 school year are Amanda Holland, President; Kara Morris, Vice President; Hannah Rowsey, Secretary; Eason Dearen, Treasurer; Erika Mitchell,
Reporter; and J.J. Walker, Sentinel.

Those members who will be receiving their State Farmer Degrees in June are Ryan Difani, Autumn Blasingame, Seth Wells, and Kyle Sutton.

At the conclusion of the awards, FFA members presented Mr. Wallis with a gift as a token of their appreciation.  With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
