On Saturday, December 3, four Sloan-Hendrix students attended the Arkansas Junior Cattlemen's
leadership conference.  The conference was attended by more than one hundred junior cattlemen from
across the state.  Attendees especially liked the keynote speaker, Paul Vitale.  He is a motivational
speaker from Russellville, Arkansas who encouraged members to be A Hero Within.  His message was
full of good advice; the power of choice, taking responsibility for your actions, honesty, attitude, and enthusiasm.
A well-known fitter, Kirk Stierwalt, presented workshops on clipping, fitting, and showmanship.  Mr. Stierwalt
had lots of good information on grooming cattle for show day and on presentation in the show ring.   He also
encouraged members to be good sports in and out of the show ring.
Members attending from Sloan-Hendrix were Jeremy Brown, Amanda Holland, Autumn Blasingame, and
Katie Williams.  The conference was held at the 4-H Center at Ferndale.
