Sloan-Hendrix has had an active show team since the 1998-99 school year when Mr. Joe Wallis, show team/FFA adviser, organized the first team. Through the years, the SH team has had many local and state champions. Several of the team members attend state, regional, and national breed shows. On any given Saturday morning during show season, it is not unusual to see a caravan of trucks and trailers on their way to the next show. The team, which includes 20-25 students each year, averages about 2500 miles per show season and attends 20 plus shows. This year the show team will be pulling their trailer with a 2006 Dodge dually recently purchased by the school for the Ag program.
According to the Cooperative Extension Service almost 25% of the jobs in Arkansas are a result of agriculture. Through show team activities and classroom training the Sloan-Hendrix agriculture department is doing their part to make sure students are trained for the future.
