|Sloan-Hendrix Students Participate in
2007 Lawrence County Fair
The annual Lawrence County Fair was held on the campus of Sloan-Hendrix August 21-25, 2007. Students look forward to the fair each year and are eager to display their projects.
Students participating in the horse show on Tuesday, August 21, were Heather Armstrong, Autumn Blasingame, Chase Dejournett, Caylea Johnson, Jade Moore, Seth Wells, and Catie Wilson. Sloan-Hendrix students did very well. Seth Wells won first and second in the two to four year old mare class and Grand Champion in the mare division. Heather Armstrong won the Senior Showmanship belt buckle sponsored by Farm Bureau. She also placed first in the five year and older mares class, second in five year and older geldings, and received Reserve Champion in the mare division. Autumn Blasingame placed second in the class of two to four year old mares and third in the class of two to four year old geldings. Catie Wilson placed fourth in the five year and older geldings class. Chase DeJournett placed fifth in five year and older geldings. Jade Moore received Reserve Champion gelding pony and first in class. Caylea Johnson placed third in five year and older geldings.
An open beef show was included in the fair activities this year and was held on Thursday evening, August 24. Students participating in the open show included: Autumn Blasingame, Eason Dearen, Amanda Holland, Deriek Stallings, Demi Stephens, John Thomison, and Katie Williams. Sloan-Hendrix alumni participating in the open show included: Sarah Holland (2005), Kristina Stephens (2004), and Tristan Young (2004). Farms from Batesville, Black Rock, and Cave City were also represented in the open show.
Open Beef Show Results:
The Lawrence County Junior goat, swine, and beef show was held Friday morning, August 24. Sloan-Hendrix students participating in the swine show were Garret Jessen and Matthew Baldridge. Garret received Grand and Reserve Grand and Matthew received first in class.
