On Thursday, September 27, thirty-five
members of the Sloan-Hendrix FBLA attended the District II
Fall Leadership Conference in Jonesboro, Arkansas. FBLA theme for this
school year is "Leadership in Action".
District officers had chosen the Make A Wish Foundation as one of the
service projects for District II. Each
chapter was encouraged to make a donation to this organization which makes
the wishes of seriously ill children
come true. Through the generous donations of faculty, staff, and FBLA
members, the Sloan-Hendrix chapter was
able to make a donation of $105. Ryan Difani represented Sloan-Hendrix
by presenting the donation and responding
to the chapter roll call.
After various district reports were given,
members listened to the keynote speaker, James Malinchak, writer and editor
of the Chicken Soup books. He encouraged students to seek
positive influences in their lives and to live their lives as
a positive influence to others. He reminded students that they are an
influence to others, even if they arenít aware of it.
At the end of the conference, the
Sloan-Hendrix chapter spent time at the K-Mart shopping area where they ate
and did some shopping.
