Sloan-Hendrix Shooting Sports

Teams Compete at Regionals

The Sloan-Hendrix trap shooting teams competed in the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program (AYSSP) regional tournament in Lonoke, Arkansas, a few weeks ago.   The junior high team competed on Friday, April 27th, and the senior high team competed on Saturday, April 28th.  Each team is made up of five individuals.  Sloan-Hendrix had three junior high teams and three senior high teams this year.  Due to baseball and softball scheduling conflicts, none of the senior high teams were complete.  However, the students were still able to compete on an individual basis.  Coach Greg Foreman also offered 2 boxes of shells to the best shooter for SH and Quinton Freeman came home with that prize by shooting 42 out of the 50 skeet.  The AYSSP has increased tremendously in number over the past few years.  It is an appropriate sport for students in this area where hunting is such a popular activity.  This sport requires safety to be an upmost priority among the individuals that participate.  Coach Foreman is very proud of how well the students have displayed respect toward the sport.  He also appreciates not only the administrative but also the parental support for the trap shooting team.  Coach Foreman stated that he owes Pardo Roberts a big thank you for all the time and help that he has offered the teams this year.
