The annual Black and Gold
Games at Sloan-Hendrix took place on Thursday, October 13, 2011 in
the Bill McCurley Gymnasium. The inter-team play is the
traditional tip off for the basketball season for the Greyhounds and
is looked forward to by Hound fans with much anticipation.
To enhance the Greyhound Spirit, SHHS digital communications
students produced a PSA and flyers and posters for the event and
students and staff dressed in their Black and Gold finest
throughout the Sloan-Hendrix campus on the day of the games. Outstanding basketball action was made all that much better with
free admission and free burgers supplied by Citizen's Bank.
The evening culminated with the unveilng of Bill McCurley's portrait
which will hang in the gymnasium which bears his name and
with the dedication of a stadium seat to the late Donald
Stephens. As usual for
the Black and Gold Games, the Hounds were victorious over their
rivals (except for the senior girls game which resulted in a tie).
It looks to be another great year for Sloan-Hendrix basketball.
