The 2015 Homecoming at Sloan-Hendrix took place in the Bill McCurley Gymnasium on Friday, December 11.  The theme of this year’s event was “Once uPAWn a Greyhound”.  Dress up days for the week leading up to the big day included College Gear Day, Just Keep Swimming Day, Disney Day, Tacky Tourist Day, and Black and Gold / Mouse Ears / Homecoming T-shirt Day.  The Pep Rally took place on Friday afternoon and featured some old favorites like the Granny’s Panties Race and some new events like the maids and escorts obstacle course.  The senior class won the spirit stick which they presented to Brenten Cox.  The Junior and Senior Greyhounds and the Senior Lady Hounds took on the Bears of Mammoth Spring for the evening basketball games.  All Sloan-Hendrix teams were victorious!  The senior boy's game was especially a nail biter, coming down to a free throw shot by Tyler Murphy to give the victory to the hounds, 68-67.  The traditional Homecoming Ceremony took place following the first game.  Openers were Bailey Bradley and Jonathan Davis who introduced the Master and Mistress of Ceremonies, Zack Taylor and Brittany Gosha.  Crowners for the event were Carla Mitchell and Alyssa Nichols.  The Homecoming Pages were Gatlin Bice, Trinity Ingram, Lacy Liscomb, and Jenner Cameron.  The maids and their escorts were introduced to the crowd:  7th grade-Chloe Young and Garret Morris, 8th grade-Savannah Nichols and Corey Hill, 9th grade-Maddyson Lamb and Logan Dail, 10th grade-Abbey Vance and Carter Vance, 11th grade-Cortney Winston and Matt Wilkins, and 12th grade-Jade Hickman and Nathan DeShazo.  Maddyson Lamb was crowned the Junior Homecoming Queen and Abbey Vance was crowned the Senior Homecoming Queen.  Student Council President and Senior Jessie Powell said “We worked really hard for a long time on the decorations this year and they came out marvelous.  It’s really amazing how much planning and work goes into something like this.”  A student dance followed the ball games.   Photos by Haley Lingenfelter and Karlie Brigman.
