On Wednesday, October 7, members of the Sloan-Hendrix chapter of FBLA attended the District II Fall Leadership Conference at the Arkansas State University Convocation Center.  The theme for the 2015-16 school year is CONNECT.  Over 1,200 FBLA members from surrounding schools attended this event.  Speakers from various service organizations encouraged members to get involved and assist their organizations.
Keynote speaker for the event was ASU assistant football coach, Trooper Taylor.   He encouraged students to dream big and then work for those dreams.  His message also encouraged students to make the right choices in life and to be careful who they choose as friends.  Using his own life as an example, he encouraged students to work hard and to remember that anything was possible.
Following the keynote speaker, chapter officers were installed.  Officers for the Sloan-Hendrix chapter of FBLA are Dylan Wood, President; Haley Lingenfelter, Vice-President; Jessie Powell, Secretary; Halei Boyles, Treasurer; Emily Luffman, Reporter; and Felicia Collins, Parliamentarian.  During the Parade of Presidents, Dylan Wood announced members, advisors, and guests present and then made a donation to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
At the conclusion of the conference, students enjoyed lunch in Jonesboro before returning to school.  Photos by Kierce Due.
