Greyhounds Succeed in Comeback at Tournament
On Saturday, December 3, the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds defeated the Riverside Rebels to win the Williams Baptist College high school basketball tournament. The Greyhounds had a tough battle as Riverside jumped out to a 22-2 lead. The Hounds managed to come back within four points by the half. With a Greyhound lead of three points, Riverside scored and stole for a chance to score again, but a traveling violation gave Sloan-Hendrix the ball. Sloan-Hendrix held on for its sixth WBC championship and the first since 1976. Hunter Stallings was leading scorer with 16 points. Other players in double figures included Braden Brand (13), Colby Johnson (12), and Tyler Murphy (10). Jacob Smith had 15 rebounds and 8 points. Receiving all-tournament team honors were Colby Johnson and Tyler Murphy. Congratulations, Greyhounds!
