Azacia Williams Competes in Washington DC

From November 27 - December 2, Sloan-Hendrix student Azacia Williams toured and competed in Washington DC at the JAG National Student Leadership Academy.  Azacia earned the all expense paid trip by placing 2nd at the State Competition and competed against students from all across the US.  Along with competition and leadership sessions, Azacia was able to enjoy a packed tour of the history of Washington DC.  Some of the amazing experiences was a tour of the Pentagon, riding the Metro, personalized tour of the Capitol, Union Station, personalized access from Major Mitch Graham of meeting a former guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and hearing the great history of the Tomb, Arlington National Cemetery, JFK burial site, Arlington House, US Marine Corps Memorial, Netherlands Carillon Tower, Holocaust Memorial Museum, Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, White House Christmas Tree, Martin Luther King Memorial, Ford Theater, Peterson House, Smithsonian Museums, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, Lantern tour at George Washington's Plantation, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and a tour of the White House.

JAG (Jobs for American Graduates) is a new program at Sloan-Hendrix that teaches students employability and financial skills while earning credit working outside of school.  Azacia was accompanied by JAG Specialist Ricky Grisham and they traveled with the Heber Springs JAG group.
