Tasty Competition
The OPAA 2018 Recipe Showdown took place in the Sloan-Hendrix Cafeteria on Thursday, February 15.  Four Sloan-Hendrix cafeteria employees competed for the coveted title of District Showdown Champion.  Alexia Mahaffey's Chicken Fajita Casserole was declared the winner by the panel of judges.  Mr. Waddell, Mrs. Watson, Mr. Lee, Briar Miller, Kayden Echeverria, and Maddie Terrell served as the judges, while Mr. Rorex served as the official "guy in the right place and the right time" taste tester.  Mahaffey will represent the Sloan-Hendrix district at the Regional Showdown on
March 13.

Basketball Senior Night 2018
On January 30, JAG toured the Hytrol facility in Jonesboro. Students learned the history and the everyday operations of one of the top producers of conveyor systems. The were able to see first hand the types of skills required for each specific area of the company, the benefits of the company, and how each section of the company works together to achieve a common goal.

The Lawrence County Tournament took place January 27 to February 3 in the Bill McCurley Gymnasium at Sloan-Hendrix.  Sloan-Hendrix teams played in seven  of the ten championship games.  The 7th Grade and the 6th grade boys teams emerged as County Champions with the 5th Grade Girls, 6th Grade Girls, 7th Grade Girls, Jr. Girls, and Sr. Girls teams coming out as Runners-up.
