Several Sloan-Hendrix students participated in the 2017 Arkansas State Fair in October.
Eli Gosha and Carley Morgan placed in the Junior Showmanship division; Eli received first place and Carley was second.
In their breed divisions, Carley won Grand Champion Santa Gertrudis Bull which qualified her for the Purple Circle Award. In addition, she had Grand Champion Bred and Owned Heifer, Grand Champion Bred and Owned Bull, and five class winners in the junior division. In the open show, she had a division win with her bull, two class winners, and two second in class.
Eli exhibited the Grand Champion Brangus heifer in the junior show, qualifying him for the Purple Circle Award. In the open show, he had the Grand Champion Brangus heifer, Grand Champion Bred and Owned Brangus bull and heifer, Overall American Supreme heifer, and the Overall Herdsman Award.
Both students received premium checks from a variety of sponsors, including Farm Bureau and Beef Brigade.
Kennley Hardin also qualified for the Purple Circle Award with her Limousin bull.  Laynee Prater-Gann placed second in junior showmanship during the commercial heifer show.
