Several members of the Sloan-Hendrix FFA attended the 90th Annual National FFA Convention and Expo held in Indianapolis, Indiana during October 24-27. This year, more than 67,000 FFA members, supporters and guests attended the convention. It is one of the largest annual student conventions in the world. Convention and expo events took place at several venues in downtown Indianapolis and surrounding areas. FFA members and guests from across the country participated in general sessions, competitive events, educational tours, leadership workshops, an expo and shopping mall, and volunteer activities and more.

Highlights of this year’s convention included a keynote speech by Laila Ali, undefeated boxing champion and a concert by Rascal Flatts. Sloan-Hendrix members were entertained by a hypnotist and also toured the famed Indianapolis Speedway.

Sloan-Hendrix FFA members attending were Hunter Stallings, Amber Johnson, John Jones, Taylor Ivy, Dakota Jones, Briar Miller, Alexis Easley, Mathew Wicker, Creeden Lee, and Emily Woodard. They were accompanied by Mrs. Amanda Stallings, Mrs. Mary Jones, and FFA Advisor Mr. Isaac Blankenship. Sloan-Hendrix was privileged to also be accompanied by seven representatives of the Tuckerman FFA.

According to Hunter Stallings the highlight of the convention was “Meeting people from over the country.” Amber Johnson said, “I really enjoyed the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and getting to kiss the bricks. But the coolest thing was getting to spend a week with other delegates from Arkansas.”

The National FFA Convention and Expo is a once in a lifetime chance for high school students to be surrounded by a sea of blue jackets worn by FFA members from all corners of the nation converging in one place to celebrate their accomplishments and find inspiration for their next.
